We almost made it through the toughest year in Theatre Charlotte’s history. Then the unthinkable happened…


Here’s what happened…

In the early hours of the morning on December 28th, an electrical fire broke out at Theatre Charlotte. While fire and rescue were able to contain the blaze, we still suffered a serious blow. The smoke cleared, but the result was devastating damage to almost all aspects of our everyday life: our offices, our seats, our props, and yes - our stage. All were mostly damaged beyond repair.

It’s been a long road to recovery, and we still have a ways to go. One thing is for certain: when it comes to community theatre, our community has never been more true. We’ve received an overwhelming outpouring of love and support from you, our friends and family.

Rebuild Update #1

We had big hopes of sharing all kinds of fun building updates with you over the past year, but unfortunately, the building updates were anything but fun. Insurance, inventory, cleaning, permits, plan reviews, inspections, and paperwork don't qualify for "exciting updates" (trust us - we had to live through it!).

The good news is that, while there is still plenty of the mind-numbing work going on, there is also real progress that we can share!
