Interview with Kyle J. Britt, director for The Flick

TC: Describe The Flick in 3 words.
KJB: SLICE OF LIFE

TC: Welcome back! What shows have you been involved in at Theatre Charlotte recently?
KJB: At Theatre Charlotte, I've been on stage in The Drowsy Chaperone (Man In Chair), A Christmas Carol (Present), and The Wizard of Oz (Lion). Behind the scenes I've been involved with A Christmas Carol (Director, Projection Design), 1984 (Pre-recorded Video), and I've been the in-house photographer for Theatre Charlotte since Season 95.

TC: We assume you are thrilled to be directing this show, so tell us why you are excited and what you're most looking forward to.
KJB: This show is true naturalism vs constructed realism and you really get to sink into the three characters in this show, their relationships, and their lives. It's like eavesdropping on a great conversation.

TC: Is there a particular character, scene, or song that you are most excited to see come to life?
KJB: If you know the trope of Angry Love Confession, there's one in this show that turns the trope on it's head in an interesting way that will be fun to see come to life.

TC: What should audiences know about this show?
KJB: This is a true dramatic comedy with some big laugh-out-loud moments but with a real message behind it tied to the relationships we have with the people in our lives in the face of depression and racism.

TC: Anything else you’d like to share?
KJB: This show takes place in a movie theatre and I'm excited we'll be performing this show not only at Theatre Charlotte but at our own local independent theatre, Independent Picture House!

TC: Other than this one, what show are you most looking forward to in Season 98?
KJB: It's such a good season I don't know how to pick one, but I think either Little Shop or God of Carnage.
