SEPTEMBER 2026

Theatre Charlotte will open Season 99 with the breathtaking, internationally acclaimed musical Come From Away

Opening night is set for September 11, 2026 – marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11. This remarkable true story celebrates the compassion of the people of Gander, Newfoundland, who welcomed thousands of stranded passengers into their homes and hearts. It’s a powerful tribute to kindness, humanity, and community — values at the core of Theatre Charlotte.

We are honored to partner with the FF Steven Coakley Foundation, known for Charlotte’s annual Flags of Remembrance installation at Romare Bearden Park, honoring Firefighter Steven Coakley (FDNY Engine 217) and all those lost on 9/11.

COME FROM AWAY

On 9/11, the world stopped.

On 9/12, their stories moved us all.

This New York Times Critics’ Pick takes you into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.
