SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD
Music and Lyrics by Jason Robert Brown 

Theatre Charlotte is proud to announce a special production of Songs for a New World. This music revue transports the audience from the deck of a 1492 sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue and features an array of characters from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich gets her the man of her dreams and a soulless marriage.  These are contemporary themes presented through contemporary characters singing contemporary popular music.  The composer/lyricist, Jason Robert Brown, says of the show, “it’s about one moment.  It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.” 

This production will be directed by Stephen Gundersheim with musical direction by Ryan Deal
