Regional Premiere
Drama
Adapted by Matt Pelfrey from the novel by John Ball
Directed by Dave Blamy
Based on the award-winning book that inspired the Oscar-winning film and the Emmy-winning television series. It’s 1962. A hot August night lies heavy over the small town of Argo, Alabama. A dead white man is discovered and the local police arrest a black stranger named Virgil Tibbs. The police discover that their prime suspect is in fact a homicide detective from California. As it happens, Tibbs becomes the racially-tense community’s single hope in solving a brutal murder that is turning up no witnesses, no motives and no clues.
Audience Talkback Sessions
In conjunction with our production of
In the Heat of the Night, we are partnering with Levine Museum of the New South and their exhibit
Without Sanctuary to offer two facilitated audience talkback sessions.
Following the performances on October 26, Levine Museum educators and facilitators will lead a conversation among the director, actors and audience to further explore the shared themes of the play and
Without Sanctuary. A second facilitated talkback will be offered on November 9 with audience and cast members. Levine Museum members are eligible for a special $5 discount when purchasing tickets for
In the Heat of the Night. In addition,
In the Heat of the Night ticketholders are invited to visit Levine Museum and show their ticket stub or playbill to receive a $2 admission discount.
In a spirit of reverence and remembrance, Levine Museum of the New South will present
